History
A Community Event That Got Wonderfully Out of Hand
Hocus Poke-Us started in 2022 as a one-day flash event with a simple idea. Founder Sadie Bartch wanted "a community event for tattooers and clients where they could feel safe" - a place to celebrate Halloween together and get walk-up work from artists who are normally booked out for months.
Five years later, Sadie, a small crew of volunteers, and one very dedicated pumpkin named Carvin Marvin have grown that idea into the East Coast's Halloween tattoo convention - 200+ artists, piercers and vendors, two full days, and thousands of ghouls who come back every October.
2022
It started as a single-day Tattoo Flash Day at the York Expo Center - and more than 1,500 people showed up, packing the hall within minutes of doors opening.
2023
The second annual grew into a full two-day Tattoo Flash Fest with 50+ artists, piercers and vendors under one roof, and earned its first press feature in the York Daily Record.
2024
The artist roster more than doubled to 150+, joined by a new main stage with tattoo competitions, a cash-prize costume contest, face painting and food trucks.
2025
The biggest year yet: 200+ artists, piercers and vendors filled Memorial Hall over two full days, cementing Hocus Poke-Us as the East Coast's Halloween tattoo convention.
